Interview Responses

For my teacher interview, she gave me answers that I thought an typical interviewee would say. She thought that technology was the number one issue in the 21st century. Even though she thought technology was the number one issue in today's world, she thought that if she could change one thing about the world, she would change the economy issue because it is sad that people are losing their homes and they cant "Achieve the American Dream". Finally, I thought it would be a good idea to ask my interviewees what kind of art they like the most and why. My teacher likes paintings then photos because it captures a moment. The student who I interviewed also thought about technology when he thought of the 21st century. He said the advances today are ridiculous and everyone relies on it too much. One thing that he said that caught my attention was the issues we have in the 21st century and he said the schooling. He believes that students are so pressured to learn all of this information even though it is useless to our lives. His favorite part of art is music because of the play on emotions that you can't describe. For my last interview, I talked to my sibling and she had some of the same ideas as my other to interviewees. She thought technology is a big part of today's world and that society is based upon it. What i thought was interesting was that she thought bullying and people degrading themselves and others is a big issue in the 21st century. She also likes photos and music because both express what words can't describe.

When I finished my interviews, I was glad to hear similar thoughts from three different groups of people. They all like art that expresses emotion and that words can't describe it, so we should make our work have a significant meaning behind it. We should definitely have as little technology as possible because they all believe it takes over our lives. I believe we got some good feedback that will help us create a wonderful piece of art.

Interviews

When I interviewed a teacher at the school I was not surprised to see that most of her replies where stating that the 21 century human is too involved with himself or a computer to really see life all around. She said that if she could change something, it would be to go back maybe 10 years and to relive to time where everything didn't revolve around electronics. The same was said by a student from school. She agreed that the world is becoming too focused on the individual, and not the group. However, when I asked about what kind of art they believed described our time, their answers varied. The teacher said that something emotional and futuristic would fit but the student said that our time is very focused on the past and so something classical would be a better decision. After those replies I thought that asking my mom would be a good idea.... I was wrong. She had a hard time understanding what it meant to describe a 21 century human. When she was finally able to wrap her mind around it she came to the conclusion that a person is described by the community they are in. She said that a person of our time is someone that help to create a better place for the future because she knows that out school achieves great things when it comes to helping the less fortunate.

After the interview I think that the art piece should be something that connects to the modern aspect of the world but also find a way to incorporate a classical view. But in the process of looking good, it should also have some advantage, maybe even offer help to the community. Pulling all these ideas together creates a great mess of things but with more time I think that I will be able the narrow down the ideas and create a master piece.
